Innate immune memory of neutrophils during inflammation

Image

The molecular pathways underlying neutrophil diversity remain unclear. In this project, we pursue the hypothesis that mechanisms of innate immune memory shape the functional phenotype of neutrophils with respect to their subsequent response patterns; a process that may be important both in the development of myeloid stem cells and in the repeated stimulation of mature (sub)populations of neutrophils. The long-term goal of our project is to target innate immune memory mechanisms in neutrophils for the treatment of inflammatory diseases.
