TRR332 video series provides insights into working worlds in life science research
We are delighted to present a three-part video series produced by our research consortium in which doctoral students, postdocs, lab technicians and professors share some impressions from their professional lives. Among other things, they highlight the joy of interacting with colleagues, talk about the interplay between research and patient care, and open up about balancing work and family life.
Emerging Scientists in Academia: A Multifaceted Career
Following Jason throughout his day reveals the complexity of an early-career researcher's world in the life sciences. We hear Merle about managing time, and handling various tasks while Claudia tell us about guiding younger scholars. Nina highlights the necessity of animal experimentation, while Dennis exemplifies the blend of clinician and researcher identities in translational medicine. Storytelling and clear communication emerge as powerful tools for conveying scientific concepts. Overall, we glimpse the multi-faceted reality of early-career researchers, offering viewers an impression of their challenging yet rewarding paths.
Established Scientists in Academia: Balancing Science & Life
Learn about the daily rewards and challenges faced by principal investigators (PIs) in the life sciences as we accompany Luise through her day. She provides insights into managing innate immunity studies, working with your team, and overseeing clinical work. Meanwhile, fellow PI colleagues share their reflections. Noelia tell us about PI responsibilities and team exchange. Daniela emphasizes the joy of curiosity and creativity in science, while Matthias expresses his enthusiasm on data curation and presenting at conferences. Additionally, Carlos, Jadwiga and Luise open up about balancing work in academia and family life. All contribute to the vivid portrayal of a thriving home office environment, revealing the camaraderie among colleagues and resilient spirit inherent in academic research.
MTL in research: All-round expertise!
In this video, we follow Hannah in her daily work as a medical laboratory assistant at the University of Münster. She and her colleague Martin are part of a team in biomedical research. There they work with state-of-the-art laboratory technologies and take care of organizational tasks. The film also gives an insight into training at the MTL school at Münster University Hospital.
