Stefanie Steiger receives prestigious award
Dr. Stefanie Steiger, PI of the TRR3332 project A7, received the 2023 ERA Stanley Shaldon Award for Young Investigators in Translational Science from the European Renal Association. Stefanie Steiger received her degree in bioengineering from Martin Luther University in Halle (Germany) in 2007. After her work as a bioengineer, she went overseas to pursue a PhD at the Malaghan Institute of Medical Research in New Zealand. In 2014, she took on the opportunity to establish her own research group in the Division of Nephrology at the LMU Hospital in Munich, where her group performs translational research on the immunoregulatory role of hyperuricemia in CKD and its contribution to the underlying secondary immunodeficiency, e.g. during sterile inflammation and infection.
